God helps those who help themselves. I first heard this statement from Hannah Kroeger and it made perfect sense. Despite resonating with the messages contained within her book and illuminations received later in life, I’ve realized I still had somewhat of a martyr complex when it comes to needing to “save” others.

“If I don’t build this business, people won’t have X, Y, Z.”

“If I don’t sacrifice my time to provide free education on X, Y, Z, people won’t know how or what to do!”

But the reality is, that there is more than enough information online and in books that have been sitting on dusty shelves for years to empower mankind to save itself – whether that be spiritually, physically, emotionally, intellectually, or mentally.

Do all people have equal access to these resources or even know where to start? No - of course not, which is why I believe sharing anecdotal information and personal insights can provide value. At the end of the day, what I’ve come to learn is that people do want to help themselves and they don’t always want others to do it for them. Individuals and families who align with this mentality are my type of people because they are willing to do the work which is the bulk of what’s ever required.

Content-wise, this Substack covers a little bit of homemaking, a little bit of animal husbandry, a lot of faith, and insights no one probably ever asked for on the modern work and where we go from here. My goal with this platform is to provide value through personal musings and educational “how to” blogs, ultimately with humility, passion, and above all, grace inspired by the Holy Spirit.

If you like learning about homesteading and surviving the pitfalls of life on the prairie, you’re in the right place.

You'll fit right in if you’re interested in living a more natural and traditional life, loving your marriage, raising healthy kids, and questioning the mainstream.

Suppose you’re eager to find other like-minded people who haven’t fallen for the toxic mainstream culture or ill-begotten philosophies that have strayed from nature, “Hi, nice to meet you. I’m Mandy.”

I don’t think healthy, wholesome, grounded, nourished living has to be that complicated. A return to nature is really what is required. And no, that doesn’t mean we have to give up video games or never have fun, but it does mean we – individually and as a collective – need to re-evaluate our priorities and stop thinking that everything tough is “out of reach.”

If you have the time and space, maybe it’s intelligent to prioritize chickens over a big-screen TV. The same goes for gardening. You could spend $4,000 extra on a new car, or you could re-allocate that to a greenhouse that will help your family grow food year-round. The choice is up to you. What no one is going to do is build it for you. So, are you ready to get started? Let’s prepare ourselves to cover a breadth of topics…
